We first talked about this idea back in 2024, but it stayed just that — an idea — until candidates started reaching out through friends, asking for help finding a pathway to work in Australia.
It made sense for us to build this. Fiu is based in Australia, I’m based in Fiji, and between us we could see both sides of the problem clearly: Australia has a rapidly aging population, and as the baby boomer generation moves into retirement, the country needs far more carers than it currently has. At the same time, we had people in Fiji looking for better pay, a real career, and a future.
After months of research, hard work, and people continuing to approach us, we decided to make this a serious business — one that meets the needs of Australia’s aged care industry while creating a genuine pathway for our people in Fiji.
More than a year of building relationships, qualifications pathways, and compliance infrastructure across both countries later, People Caring Group is officially live.
We exist for one reason: Australian aged care providers don’t have a workforce problem because good people aren’t available — they have a workforce problem because most models are built to fill a vacancy, not build a team that stays.
People Caring Group is different. We identify, prepare, transition and support Fijian care professionals — every one holding the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support, delivered by APTC and awarded by TAFE Queensland — for long-term placement with Australian aged care providers under the Aged Care Industry Labour Agreement pathway.
This isn’t recruitment. It’s a system: relationships in Fiji built over decades, a structured preparation programme before care professionals ever board a plane, and a retention framework that stays engaged long after arrival.
We’re currently welcoming a small number of **Founding Provider Partners** — providers ready to build workforce capacity, not just fill a roster gap, and who’ll work directly with our founders from day one.
